admission process at college 1 :)
before u start off reading this, i advise you to read my earlier blog named "admission processes can be funn too". You will get a hold of whats going on here.
For those who know whats happening here - I am not naming the college right away. Lets just say, I am building a li'l bit of suspense!! May be that brings an X-FACTOR to what I am writing.
ENJOY!
OKAY...so this is the college that actually provoked me to write down my feelings and post it on a blog. What i experienced here was out of this world, no other college had an admission process like this one!!
The day here was BAD BAD BAD!! Yes, I am giving the credit of this article to the worst process I underwent. And all this crap happened to me at IMT, Ghaziabad!!
Yes sire, it is Institute of Management & Technology .aka. IMT at the bottom of the list. Grrrrr....!!!
What can I say...rather where should I start from? Thank God this was almost the last process I had to experience else the thought of attending admin process would have become a nightmare for me!!
The admin process was to be conducted at the opposite end of campus to the main gate, and there was no path marking as such..anywhere!! Its a huge campus, I dont expect golf cars to take us across but a little guidance would have been really welcome. Honestly speaking, half way finding my way I thought it was a test too..you know something like 1st stage of admissions. May be it was too much of Roadies and amazing races influence on me. I was roaming around the campus like an agitated evil soul looking for a body to cling on to, just like the Indian classic tale - Vikram and Betaal. Finally i found IT..!! oye, not the body you genius, but the venue for the process!
It was..ummm..in one word HORRIBLE!Just a tent and nothing else! We have better arrangements and better tents at a kid's first birthday party!! yeaa..m not boasting!!
Help yourself water service, that too not from a water cooler but a few water jars placed there!! The garden hose pipe had colder water than the drinking water. The chairs were placed in a garden with no fans...that too at 1 in the afternoon. Why couldn't they just kill us at once!? Later we were shifted to a hall and thanks again..no fans there too. NO NO NO...NO AC too!!
So, the arrangements sucked a big time -> 2/10. This 2 is only for the fact that they provided us a place to sit.
I have already told you that the water served..sorry..kept there wasn't even cold! Though they had the decency to place a coffee machine inside the hall. And guess what? yess they did the unthinkable - the coffee was on payment!! Then i suddenly realized I had to get a document photocopied, and yes again...6rs the guy told me for 6 copies!! Can you expect that kind of behavior from a highly rated institute that charges almost highest in the country - 10lacs!!
I see no reason to give them any point in hospitality. One may argue that at least they served water, so to keep them shutt -> 1/10.
Just when I thought this couldn't go any worse..the entire process reached an ultimate low!! Volunteers, guess what? - there were none!!!
Yes my frens, there weren't ANY volunteers to help you through. You are out there on your own, figure everything out yourself. This is unbelievable, and infuriating like hell. They didn't had the courtesy to serve free beverages, let alone the food. So i guess, talking about the free lunch is such a waste of time. All I can write in this section is a lot of abuses, which I have self censored!
Definitely 0/10 in volunteering & welcome.
Moving on...I have no f**king idea what the interview panel consisted of. I mean..once again..there were no volunteers to guide us!! But they seemed to be a group of happy people. So what if they had bad English..or they had no idea whatsoever about the current market strategies and moves..they were good people all in all.
Just by assumption I would like to give them 3/10 for interview panel.
ALL IN ALL..IMT GHAZIABAD DID WORSE THAN UNSATISFACTORY..TO BE HONEST, I HAVE SECOND THOUGHTS ABOUT TAKING ADMISSION HERE. BUT THE RESULT IS SURELY AWAITED!!
FINAL RATING - 2/10
admission processes can be funn too!!! ;)
Recently I have witnessed and participated in the admission processes of different MBA colleges. Each one of them was different from the other in a way or ny!!
Here..in this article, I'l give you a description of each of them and also rate them on there performance. Call it that writer inside me looking for an opportunity to jump outside every now and then.
I would like my readers to make it a point that this rating in no way is the rating of the college, I mean I was there to seek admission myself..who am I to rate the premier institutes?! :P
This rating is all about my one day admission process at the college..the way the entire process was carried out and the factors involved in it. So...don't loose track from the topic!:)
Broadly, I hav decided the entire rating chart into 4 divisions -
1. ARRANGEMENTS - Includes the campus navigation and the guidance provided to us on the way to main venue of the process. It also includes the accommodation (if any) and seating facilities.
2. HOSPITALITY - The facilities provided to the visitors. When I say facilities, it means the refreshments, the material help and other expenses incurred by the institute on the visitors. We all know how much important is the free lunch after a tiresome day...nothing less than a feel of heaven!! ;)
3. WELCOME & VOLUNTEERING - This includes the nature of volunteers towards the visitors; there attempts to ease the candidates and keep them relaxed during the entire process. Lets not miss the interest of hosts in solving the problems faced by the visitors; lets face it, people ask some really stupid questions. Here are some questions that I overheard "which way to the washroom?", "when do i get to eat? is it free?? really??", "how much chance do i stand to get selected for admission?"...so on...it takes a lot of patience and courage to answer questions like that repeatedly. We shall have a 2 line silence here to all those volunteers who became a victim of such questions!
:P
:P
moving on...
4. INTERVIEW PANEL - This is an important factor. It shows how serious the college is about the level of candidates it selects. This is a long term factor that also decides the fate of the nature of the college..believe me!
The jury that decides the final admission needs to be an achiever in itself. I mean, you don't want your admission fate to be decided by the janitor of the college. (some of us might even prefer that).
;)
Each of these divisions has a weightage of its own..not necessarily equal. Its not always constant too..the weightage changes depending on how badly a college performed in any of its divisions. So, the final score of the institute is not just an arithmetic sum of its division score. The addition is so complex that even I forget the formula at times, so I am not going to write it down here. Ofcourse you can demand for the formula by exercising your RIGHT to INFORMATION, but you know what?
I AM STILL NOT GONNA MENTION IT! HA...:P
Anyways...tighten your seat belts readers, cos I am taking you on a journey to few of the top colleges in the country. I had to prepare for 1 entire year to get there, but you lucky bastards are going to get a glimpse without an effort other than of course reading!!
HAVE FUNN....!!!
